Ashley:
Something's got to be happening now. They
wouldn't have let things go this long.
Tyler: They're looking. Our parents are probably
all up here or will be soon.
Seth: Hey, we probably made the news!
Tyler: Just what we need, another reason for
Pastor to get mad at us.
Seth: Wow! We'll be on tv if they find us.
They're probably putting our pictures on the air
right now. (Pauses) I hope they aren't using my
school picture. I look pretty bad in that
one.
Rachel: I think you're jumping the gun a little
bit.
Tyler: I don't know. I can't believe it's been
this long.
Ashley: What do you think is going to
happen?
Tyler: How should I know?
Ashley: I think we should all pray.
Rachel: (suddenly jumps up) What are you talking
about?
Tyler: Rachel, we really should pray.
Rachel: (almost in a rage) Lot of good it's done
so far. What's the matter with you guys. If your
God really existed, we wouldn't even be
here.
Tyler: Rachel, that's not true.
Rachel: Oh, really. (Turns to Ashley) Tell me,
when Tyler prayed for you before we turned you
over, did the pain go away? Ashley: (slowly)
Well, I . . .
Rachel: I didn't think so. It didn't help at
all! I heard you scream. You can't tell me that
it didn't hurt.
Ashley: But . . .
Rachel: You Christians are all the same. You
pray and your God doesn't answer but you pretend
that he does. Do you think your pain was less
because Tyler prayed? Are you going to tell me
that your God comforted you? Bull. He's not even
here.
Seth: You know, she has a point.
Ashley: (surprised) Seth!
Seth: Think about it. God could have led us out
of here - right? He's all-powerful, isn't
he?
Tyler: But we made a human mistake.
Rachel: And you all prayed and nothing
happened.
Tyler: That's not the way it works.
Rachel: (snidely) Oh, really? I wouldn't have
guessed!
Tyler: God's not like some kind of bank that you
can go to and make withdrawals and expect him to
solve all of your problems.
Rachel: But the Bible says that - "anything
you ask and it shall be given."
Seth: She's right, Tyler.
Tyler: (to Seth) Oh, give me a break. You know
that verse as well as I do and it's talking
about requests within his will.
Seth: (realizes Tyler's right) Oh, yeah. That's
true. (Turns to Rachel) See, we have to ask in
his will.
Rachel: So, it's his will that we're stranded in
the woods freezing to death.
Seth: (back to Tyler) Yeah, is it his will that
we're stranded here? Ashley: (breaks in) The
bible says that all things work together for
good. That means that something good is going to
come out of this.
Rachel: You are so naive! How can you believe
that bull? What good is going to come out of
this? First, we're all going to be in a severe
amount of trouble. Second, we're probably all
going to end up with frostbite. Third, we've
made all our friends and parents upset. And on
top of all of that Ashley, you could be crippled
because of this. Oh, yeah. Sounds like God's got
a lot of good planned. (There is an
uncomfortable silence.)
Seth: She's got a point, Tyler.
Tyler: Shut up, Seth.
Seth: (feigning that his feelings are hurt) Boy,
what a great Christian attitude you have!
